Rebecca started riding when she was four, eventually progressing into show jumping and competed at international level for the Welsh junior team. Her first job in racing was just 10 miles down the road with Peter Bowen, a successful National Hunt trainer. Rebecca also competed in point to point where she rode her first winner in the year 2000. From there she went to America and worked at both Santa Anita and Hollywood Park alongside Richard Mandella and Dan Hendricks.
On returning to Wales, Rebecca began training on her father’s dairy farm and trained her first winner in April 2008 with Mango Catcher. She progressed through the training ranks in a very short space of time with each season being more successful.
Her success has attracted the patronage of one of the big names in jump racing, JP McManus, and with that came the services of Tony McCoy (20 times champion jockey) who at the time rode the majority of Rebecca’s horses.
Rebecca’s rise as a trainer in such a short space of time is a testament to her hard work, dedication and natural ability. To date, Rebecca, has trained four Cheltenham Festival winners with Teaforthree, At Fishers Cross, O’Faolains Boy and Irish Cavalier. She has also had a number of graded winners plus a Grand National placing.
Rebecca has owned an equestrian retail outlet and therefore understands the importance of high quality, functional equine equipment. Having worked with horses all of her life she has genuine, professional knowledge of what is needed in the market and the expertise to create something new and exciting. Rebecca Curtis Equine is the culmination of that knowledge and expertise.
